Indigo was retained by a local bridge contractor (Dave Flatau) to provide civil engineering design and state DOT and local permitting services for roadway relocation and construction of an 80-foot span bridge over a gorge and Quaker Brook. The roadway relocation was necessary due to the close proximity of the former roadway to major water supply wells. The project also eliminated a hairpin turn in the road and an undersized bridge and significantly enhanced safety and visibility. The former roadway was removed and densely planted with native trees and shrubs. The bridge superstructure consists of 60-inch steel beams set on concrete abutments. Timber was selected for the deck and railing due to the rustic and natural setting of the bridge. Due to an untimely passing of Mr. Flatau, the bridge was dedicated to him on Memorial Day 2014.
