New Dock & Walkway - Oyster River
Old Saybrook, CT
Indigo provided civil engineering design and local and state permitting services to reconstruct a 70-foot long fixed dock along the Oyster River and a 370-foot long elevated walkway with railing over the adjacent tidal marshes and creeks. The former structures were in disrepair and were severely damaged by Tropical Storm Irene in 2011 and Super Storm Sandy in 2012. Indigo worked closely with a local contractor to develop a functional design and plan to accommodate this site.

Sea Wall
Sea Lane - Old Saybrook, CT
Indigo was retained by the property owners of 26 & 30 Sea Lane #1 in the Cornfield Point section of Old Saybrook to provide civil engineering design and construction coordination services for a 130-foot long cast-in-place reinforced concrete seawall with terrace and a 75-foot long grouted rip-rap stone slope revetment. A cast-in-place stairwell to provide access from the lawn area to the cobblestone beach below was also incorporated into the design. The pre-existing seawalls and rip-rap were severely damaged during Super Storm Sandy in 2012 and needed timely replacement to avoid continued sloughing of lawn areas above and encroachment of erosion toward the homes. Challenges included failed seawalls and slopes on adjacent properties, creating two separate retaining structures to act as one continuous structure and logistics during construction due to a narrow working environment and the immediate proximity of sensitive coastal resources.
